One of the first things that attracted me to this Scottish trio was that their sound reminded me a lot of the early material by fellow Scottish bands 'Idlewild' and 'Biffy Clyro'.
When listening to them for the first time, I felt totally refreshed to hear a band that aren't making music to conform but making the kind of music that inspired to be a band in the first palce. And the fact that both bands have both evolved to create, still brilliant, but very different sounds to their earlier work I was really happy to hear that these three young lads are keeping the faith by making simple, melodic and passionate rock music. This is the first single to lifted from their longly awaited debut album which is due out late March and is a total cracker of a first single. Previous singles have shown us their more punchy, pop infused sound, but with 'Crisis in the Slow Lane' this is a much more profound sound. Firstly, its at a much a slower pace and isn't just the guitar, drum, bass set up, cello and piano is also thrown into the mix for the delicate tones that are verses before the distortion kicks in for a totally powerful and rocking chorus. Complete with a big stadium sized single along moment towards the end of the track, this is a totally unlifting and stunning piece of rock and just makes you wanna punch the air with your fist . This is music to believe in, role on March!
Rating: 9/10
